Vintage issue of Radio & Television News magazine dated March 1949. This is an awesome magazine devoted to information about radio and tv. In fact, there is a little insignia that states "1949 is TV year". Cover shows a picture of a large dish antenna to pick up television remotes.
Great picture of University of Michigan physicists checking "the new 15 ton, 300 million electron-volt synchorotron. The "race track" machine will be used to split the nuclei of atoms for advanced atomic research."
Some articles include: -Airline Radio -TV Prediction for '49 -The "New Look" in Popular Records (this is an article about the NEW 45 records!) -Facsimile Transmission of Newspapers (precursor to our fax machines?) -Modern Television REceivers
Super ads include: -Allied Radio -GE speakers -Jensen home entertainment centers -RCA -Sylvania Electric regarding "Spreading the news of incoming ships!" with an image of the Queen Elizabeth -Radiomart in Yonkers, NY for easy to assemble television sets! ($269 and $303!!) -Hytron ad showing lots of old tabletop radios and their tubes!
Binding is tight, but cover and first section of pages are starting to split along spine. Has that "old" magazine smell.
s/h will be 3.00 in US only. |
